When disaster strikes, ActionAid does things differently. They work directly with local women and girls to provide support and save lives.

In 2018 I was invited to collaborate with fellow animators Woven Ink to create a series of animations with Actionaid. Celebrating the inspiring and powerful work women around the world do in the face of humanitarian emergencies, women like Luijah, Emelline, Ismene and Fatema bring vital skills, resources and experience in emergencies. Actionaid works with women to give them the skills needed in leadership, disaster preparedness and community building.

Zeinah

A collaborative project with CreativeConnection and The Worldwide Tribe to tell the story of Zeinah as she faces the difficult decision to leave her country in order to safe herself and the lives of her family. The events depicted in this film are as described by people who lived through them. Families who found themselves making difficult choices in order to protect their lives and their loved ones, and whose stories need to be heard.

Actually….

This humorous animation was created to promote Actuaries in roles outside of their industry stereotypes, highlight how their skills can benefit a company and to help potential employers consider them in a new light.

How has mathematics shaped our world?

From architecture to aeronautics, from statistics to the edges of the universe itself, these animations examine the fundamental role mathematicians, their tools and ideas have played in building the world we live in. Commissioned to promote the opening of the Winton Gallery for London’s Science Museum in 2016 these four shorts each tell the story behind an object in the exhibition.
