TO SURVIVE, TO LIVE

"To survive, To live" is five voices speaking of their experiences selling sex in Austerity Britain, people who are often ignored, overlooked and marginalised. Commissioned to complement the release of Juno Mac and Molly Smith’s book “Revolting Prostitutes”, This animation was painstakingly created from hand-drawn illustrations to bring the lived experiences of the narrators to life.

INVISIBILITY-ENDOMETRIOSIS

Endometriosis is an invisible disease that can have painful symptoms, affecting those who have the condition and their lives. Those living with the condition don’t always feel like they can speak out, as it is often dismissed as “bad periods” The silence and misunderstanding surrounding this disease can also have a negative effect on mental health. By speaking more about endometriosis and by bringing the experiences of those who live with it out into the open we hope to increase awareness and encourage those experiencing symptoms to reach out.

ITS OUR TIME NOW

These short powerful animated films have been developed by the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) in collaboration with The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), Survivors of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), NGOs and a variety of local community partners. They are aimed at creating awareness around the health and physiological consequences of FGM and cut through much of the inaccurate and misleading information circulating in the public sphere about FGM. We worked closely with FGM survivors to ensure the authenticity of the stories being told via the animations and remained true to the realities of FGM and its psychological impact.

ACTIONAID

In 2018 I was invited to collaborate with fellow animators Woven Ink to create a series of animations with Actionaid. Celebrating the inspiring and powerful work women around the world do in the face of humanitarian emergencies, women like Luijah, Emelline, Ismene and Fatema bring vital skills, resources and experience in emergencies. For this project I created vibrant and engaging illustrations of the women working in their communities to make real and lasting change.
